Educator Preparation Curriculum Committee (EPCC)

OVERVIEW POLICIES AND PROCEDURES MEMBERSHIP

Overview

The Educator Preparation Curriculum Committee (EPCC) serves as the curriculum committee of the Educator Preparation Program and the Bagwell College of Education.

Purpose

The purpose of the Educator Preparation Curriculum Committee (EPCC) and Teacher Education Council (TEC), henceforth as the Committee, is to provide support and ensure accountability in the development of programs and curricula within the Educator Preparation Programs (EPP) and the Bagwell College of Education (BCOE) at Kennesaw State University (KSU). As part of the curriculum revision and review process, the Committee receives, reviews, and advises on all program and course proposals developed within EPP programs or originating from the BCOE through curricular procedures defined by KSU’s Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment unit (CIA) to ensure agreement with the University System of Georgia Board of Regents (BOR), Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC),  the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), KSU, EPP, and BCOE policies, procedures, goals, strategic plans and missions. After a successful review by the Committee, program and course proposals are forwarded to the Undergraduate Policies and Curriculum Committee (UPCC) and Graduate Policies and Curriculum Committee (GPCC) for further review.

The Curriculum Review Process is discussed in the University Handbook Section 3.7.2.

Duties

The duties of the EPCC are as follows:

  • Examine and vote on course and program proposals (including credit-bearing certificates) from the BCOE and EPP colleges and departments and ensure their compliance with KSU and BOR policies and goals.
  • Recommend approval of changes in curriculum including the addition, deletion or changes of courses, new programs or concentrations, and changes in program requirements.
  • Recommend changes in curricular policies and procedures.
  • Make recommendations regarding the curriculum development and review process.

Meetings

The EPCC holds regularly scheduled meetings on Thursdays from 11:30 AM - 1 PM. Special meetings may be called when deemed necessary and appropriate by the EPCC Chair or upon request from EPCC Members.
