Dr. Kate Zimmer presented at the Division for Early Childhood's 30th Annual International Conference on Young Children with Special Needs and their Families at St. Louis, MO. Her presentation, titled, "Project MITS: Research on Early Literacy and Autism," examined the effects of educating preschool teachers on the evidence-based practice of shared storybook reading to increase interactions in children with autism. The intervention was implemented in an increase of preschool settings throughout Georgia. Authentic assessment data was collected, demonstrating effectiveness and improving quality and actions and use of strategies.
