About TESOL

There are three graduate TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) programs in the Inclusive Education Department:

M.Ed. in TESOL

The Master of Education in TESOL prepares certified teachers to successfully impact academic achievement of an increasingly culturally and linguistically diverse population of P-12 students. The program of study includes core courses in curriculum development, assessment, collaborative practices, and the teaching of literacy in the content areas. Candidates receive the ESOL Endorsement after the first two semesters in the program.

MAT in TESOL

The Master of Arts in Teaching in TESOL is for those who have a bachelor’s degree, but no education background or teacher certification. The program is trans-disciplinary in nature and is built on research in the disciplines of TESOL, General Education, Literacy, and Special Education. Graduates demonstrate the ability to provide language and literacy instruction to English learners while simultaneously teaching the state-approved content standards. They also gain a firm understanding of collaborative models in order to effectively work with colleagues and families to enhance EL learning across the curriculum.

ESOL Endorsement

The ESOL Endorsement Program at Kennesaw State University is a fully online three-course sequence (9 credit hours) with an embedded field experience that prepares you to help English learners succeed in your class.

In addition to these programs, we collaborate across the college and university to provide undergraduate and graduate courses in language and literacy for English learners.
