Instructional Technology

Conversion Program

The Conversion Program is intended for individuals who hold a valid level 4 or higher Induction, Professional, Advanced Professional, or Lead Professional teaching certificate, leadership certificate, service field certificate or Life certificate and have completed an advanced degree (M.Ed., Ed.S., Ed.D. or Ph.D.) in Instructional Technology (or equivalent) within the past 10 years and would like to add the new Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) certification in Instructional Technology to their existing Georgia certificate. This new certification is classified as a P-12 Service field and is intended for holders to provide support and service to all levels (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12) of the P-12 system.  One of the requirements for obtaining this certification is to pass the state-approved content assessment (GACE) for Instructional Technology.

KSU has developed a Conversion Program to allow "eligible" Georgia educators to add the certification in Instructional Technology to their existing Georgia certificate. See the "Are You Eligible" webpage.

According to the GaPSC, individuals wanting to acquire certification in Instructional Technology through a Conversion Program must provide evidence of meeting the GaPSC Instructional Technology standards through a mechanism decided upon by the approved program provider. As an approved program provider, Kennesaw State University (KSU) is requiring an electronic portfolio as evidence of meeting the GaPSC Instructional Technology Standards. Requirements for the portfolio are discussed at this link.

Educators who submit a portfolio that meets all GaPSC Instructional Technology standards/elements may be recommended for certification in Instructional Technology by KSU to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC). In the event that the educator does not meet all standards/elements, the institution may require resubmission of the electronic portfolio, additional coursework, and/or experiences.

Fees:

There is a non-refundable $50 application/transcript review fee. If your transcript review reveals that your degree is not an "eligible" degree for the Conversion Program, the fee will NOT be refunded. Once your application and transcript have been reviewed and approved, you will receive notification of your acceptance into the Conversion Program at KSU. You may then submit the link to your portfolio for review and pay the non-refundable $250 portfolio review fee. In the event that you do not pass all of the elements on the first review, there is no cost for one re-submission.

You may be asked to provide course descriptions and/or syllabi for courses in your advanced degree in Instructional Technology (or equivalent).

Turnaround Time:

The turnaround time for the portfolio review is approximately 4-6 weeks.
