Foreign Language Education (FLED)

Program Introduction by Dr. Hoyt The goal for all of our FLED teacher candidates is to become:

  • content knowledge experts
  • facilitators of learning
  • collaborative professionals -complete language-specific coursework
  • earn at least an advanced low rating on ACTFL OPI
  • pass language-specific GACE II exams
  • carry out site based observation in P-12 foreign language (FL) classrooms
  • complete 6 hours of field experience in a P-8 FL classroom
  • complete 12 hours of student teaching experience in a 9-12 FL classroom All of our FLED teacher candidates:
