Program Description

This is a valid endorsement through the GaPSC. In addition, candidates who complete the certificate program may transfer up to 9 credit hours as part of the electives for the M.Ed. in Special Education or Ed.S. in Special Education. 

The purpose of the Autism Spectrum Disorder Endorsement is to prepare teachers to meet the needs of students with autism. According to the National Center for Disease Control (2018) an average of 1 in 54 children has an autism spectrum disorder, a number that has increased tremendously in the last decade.

The purpose of the Autism Spectrum Disorders Endorsement is to prepare teachers to meet the needs of students with autism. According to the National Center for Disease Control (2013) an average of 1 in 68 children has an autism spectrum disorder, a number that has increased tremendously in the last decade.

This fully online certificate is specifically designed to meet the ever-increasing need for specialized preparation to meet the needs of students on the autism spectrum. This stand-alone certificate does not lead to certification; however, candidates who complete the certificate program may transfer up to 9 credit hours as part of the electives for the M.Ed. in Special Education.

Admission Requirements and Deadlines 

  1. Completed online Graduate Application
  2. $60 non-refundable application processing fee*
  3. Official transcripts from each college or university attended. If the institution is outside the U.S., an international credential evaluation will be required.
  4. Bachelor's degree from a Regionally Accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of 2.75
  5. Additional requirements by program
