EECE Interim Chair’s Welcome

Dr. Stacy Delacruz

Welcome to the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education (EECE) in the Bagwell College of Education at Kennesaw State University. We are proud to be ranked the 2022 top provider of Elementary Education graduates in Georgia. We hold a number of accolades for our programs in Elementary Education, Birth through Kindergarten, and our online M.Ed in Elementary and Early Childhood. We currently offer a Reading Endorsement Certificate and are excited to announce the launch of our new STEM and Urban Education Endorsement Certificates in Summer 2024.

We are home to a student population of over 1200 teacher candidates engaged in both undergraduate and graduate programs. While our overall teacher candidate population is large, we foster the growth and development of each future teacher as an individual. Our programs emphasize the significance of excellence and care. We are dedicated to fostering learning environments that nurture the essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for successful engagement with all student populations.

Our faculty are widely recognized scholars and researchers who have taught in varied, Birth to Kindergarten and Preschool to Fifth grade classrooms in the U.S. and beyond. EECE faculty have won international, national, state, and regional teaching, service, and scholarship awards for their content expertise and commitment to elementary and early childhood education. They bring their teaching expertise into the KSU classroom to get to know the assets of each teacher candidate and differentiate for each learner so they can find success and bring all their knowledge into their future classroom. We also work closely with advisors and our field placement office so teacher candidates stay on track for graduation and are placed in field experiences that reflect what they are learning at KSU.

We also work closely with advisors and our field placement office to ensure our candidates are on track for graduation and gain practical experience that aligns with their KSU learning.
