Bagwell College Faculty Research Expo: Call for Abstracts

Description & Dates: The Bagwell College of Education Faculty Research Expo is an event to showcase scholarship and creative work conducted by faculty during the past two academic years. It constitutes a college-level initiative framed within the college Research Action Plan.
The Fall 2023 edition of the Bagwell College Faculty Research Expo will be held within the Research Week on November 8th, 2023. The event will be hybrid, and faculty will have the opportunity of presenting face-to-face in the Bagwell building or online using Microsoft Teams.  

Call for Abstracts: 

Faculty can submit abstracts addressing: 

  • Research and/or studies initiated, conducted and/or finished during the past two academic years 
  • Research grants initiated, conducted and/or finished during the past two academic years
  • Publications (academic articles, books, book chapters, etc) released during the past two academic years 
  • Research and/or studies conducted in collaboration with graduate or undergraduate students
  • etc

Proposals can be submitted as:

  1. Face-to-face or Virtual 10-minute individual presentation
  2. Face-to-face or Virtual 10-minute collaborative presentation with internal or external colleagues
  3. Face-to-face or Virtual 10-minute collaborative presentation with undergraduate students
  4. Face-to-face or Virtual 10-minute collaborative presentation with graduate students

Submission process: Please complete the form below to submit your abstract before Monday, October 16th, 2023 at noon: 

 

The following prizes will be awarded: 

  • Top individual presentation ($1,000 to cover PD, conference registration or travel.)
  • Top collaborative presentation with internal or external colleagues ($1,000 to cover PD, conference registration or travel.)
  • Top collaborative presentation with undergraduate students ($1,000 to cover PD, conference registration or travel.)
  • Top collaborative presentation with undergraduate or graduate students ($1,000 to cover PD, conference registration or travel.)

Judges: 

  • Presentations will be judged based on a rubric that will be shared with participants before the event
  • Judges will be RCC faculty representing departments and units. 

Tentative Schedule for Wednesday, November 8, 2023 (depending on the # of proposals received)

  • 9.00-9.15: Presentation of the initiative (15’)
  • 9.15-10.15: Session 1 (60’):  4 X 10’ research presentations + 20’ for questions
  • 10.15-10.30: Break
  • 10.30-11.30: Session 2 (60’):  4 X 10’ research presentations + 20’ for questions
  • 11.30-11.45: Lunch Break
  • 11.45-12.45: Session 3 (60’):  4 X 10’ research presentations + 20’ for questions
