When is the deadline to apply for the reading endorsement?
The deadline to apply is April 1

Can I complete the endorsement without being enrolled in a program?
Yes, teachers pursuing a reading endorsement may be enrolled as a nondegree student or may be enrolled in specific programs at KSU

What grades can I teach with a reading endorsement?
The reading endorsement will qualify the holder to be considered “in field” at the level of the base certificate.

What courses do I have to take to complete the reading endorsement?
You will have to complete 3 courses when completing the endorsement.
- EDRD 6715: Introduction to theory and Pedagogy in the Study of Reading (offered in Summer semester)
- EDRD 6717: Introduction to Reading Assessment and Instruction (offered in the Fall semester)
- EDRD 6718: Introduction to Content Area Reading and Literacy (offered in Spring Semester)

What is the method of course delivery?
The reading endorsement is offered entirely online.

Do I need to take any tests to get the reading endorsement?
No. you will just need to complete the course work and field experiences associated with those courses.

After I complete the three courses, what will I need to do?
Within 8-10 working business days of the end of each semester, assuming there are no scheduled holidays or breaks, KSU electronically updates your PSC records to indicate your completion of an endorsement. Form submission is electronic and done upon completion of the final course required for the endorsement. Please note that the PSC requires that you log into your MyPSC account and, under the “Claim Preparation Program” button, verify that you were in the endorsement, before our completion submission will match to your PSC records.

Do I have to take a GACE State Exam to obtain the Reading Endorsement?
No GACE State Exam Needed.
