The Professional Teacher Education Unit at Kennesaw State University is proud to offer student teaching international and other global experiences in Quito, Ecuador.

Program Description

Students complete 12 hours of credit in student teaching in the appropriate grade and content of their education major in a placement in a SACS accredited PK-12 school, Colegio Menor San Francisco de Quitoaffiliated with the Universidad de San Francisco, Quito Ecuador.  It is a bilingual school created on the underlying principles of goodness, beauty and truth and draws on the best of the international and American school models, while teaching students to understand, respect, and celebrate the diversity of the Ecuadorian culture.

Colegio Menor is located in the valley of Cumbaya about fifteen minutes from Quito.  Cumbaya is a developing residential area and a pleasant place to live and study.  The school is associated with the Universidad de San Francisco, the top private university in Ecuador with over 5,000 undergraduates and a research station with Boston University in the Amazon and a community college in the Galapagos.  Quito was voted one of the top ten travel destinations for 2008 and is the second largest city in Ecuador.  Ecuador is one of the smallest countries in Latin America but has the most biological diversity of any country in the world.  The official language of Ecuador is Spanish.
