Program Overview
The new 30-Hour M.Ed. in Elementary & Early Childhood Education is offered fully online. Each cohort is supported by graduate faculty who mentor the candidates and facilitate program delivery. The program of study schedule is designed to coincide with the public school calendar and is provided in advance so teachers can coordinate educational and personal commitments with program requirements.
Important features of the M.Ed. in Elementary and Early Childhood Education Program:
- Fully online
- No face to face classes
- Complete in 3-4 semesters
In addition to completing requirements for the M.Ed., candidates also earn an additional endorsement or KSU certificate, further enhancing their marketability in the teaching profession. Opportunities for endorsement or certification include:

The M.Ed. in Elementary and Early Childhood Education is designed for candidates who are already certified in Elementary (P-5) and/or Early Childhood Education teachers who wish to continue to learn more about the Education field and improve their instructional practices. The program allows certified teachers in to earn their M.Ed. in 3 - 4 semesters while continuing their career in teaching.
Admission Requirements
Must possess the following beyond the general KSU Graduate College Admission Requirements linked here:
- Degree – Bachelor’s degree with at least a 2.75 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
- Official Transcripts from each college attended, including those institutions where degrees were not earned. Official transcripts are those in a university-sealed envelope. Transcripts should reflect at least a bachelor’s degree with at least a 2.75 GPA (on a 4.0 scale).
- Teaching Certificate – Uploaded to graduate application. Current clear, renewable Georgia Teaching Certificate, out-of-state equivalent, OR Elementary & Early Childhood Department Chair permission. Must hold certification in Early Childhood (Birth to Kindergarten) or Elementary (PK-5th Grade) Education to be considered for this program, or receive permission of the chair. To print a copy of your clear, renewable Georgia teaching certificate, you may log into your MyPSC account.
- Recommendation Forms (2) – These forms and their directions are located in the online graduate application. Please do not submit letters of recommendation. Only the forms located via the graduate application will be accepted. These two forms of recommendation must come from an educational professional who has taught or supervised your work and who can write with authority about your abilities as an educator.
