Online Teaching Endorsement Certificate

The School of Instructional Technology & Innovation in the Bagwell College of Education is offering an Online Teaching Endorsement Certificate program.
The purpose of the Online Teaching Endorsement Certificate program is to prepare candidates to teach within online and blended learning environments. Over the course of three semesters, candidates in the Online Teaching Endorsement Certificate program will complete three (3) online courses (9 credit hours), field experiences, and an electronic portfolio.
This program offers two different tracks.
- Track 1 - Endorsement track for those who are certified educators in Georgia who wish to add the GaPSC approved Online Teaching Endorsement to their certifications, and
- Track 2 - Certificate track for those educators who are in K-12 settings but not certified in Georgia or who teach in other settings and wish to gain competencies in online and blended teaching.
When all requirements have been completed, the three courses will appear on the KSU transcript under Online Teaching Endorsement Certificate.
Admission Requirements
The following admission requirements beyond the general Admissions requirements are:
Endorsement Track (Track 1) seekers include:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- A GPA of 2.75 from the most recent degree awarded.
- Clear Renewable Georgia Teaching Certificate.
Certificate Track (Track 2) seekers include:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- A GPA of 2.75 from the most recent degree awarded.
Program of Study
- SEMESTER I (Summer)
ITEC 7480 Introduction to Online Learning (3)
During this course, you will create a syllabus outlining an approved 4-6 week online or blended learning experience. - SEMESTER II (Fall)
ITEC 7481 Designing & Developing Online Learning (3)
During this course, you will develop a 4-6 week online module that you will implement in the Spring with your K-12 students. - SEMESTER III (Spring)
ITEC 7482 Facilitating Online Learning (3)
During this course, you will implement the online module that you created in the Fall. Please make sure you are in a school environment that has adequate technology to perform this major field experience.

How do I Apply
*NOTE: All Online Teaching Endorsement/Certificate candidates must have access/permission to teach a group of K12 students during the spring semester for ITEC 7482. This is typically provided through a candidate's full time job. Other arrangements are permitted, but not provided. This placement is the responsibility of the candidate.
- Complete the Online Graduate Application, if you are not currently a KSU Student.
- Complete the Online Teaching Program Application
- (2015 update) Additional application materials may be necessary; however, the OTE/C coordinator will notify you.
