Program Overview

The ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) Endorsement at Kennesaw State University provides undergraduate teacher candidates with the specialized skills needed to effectively support English learners (ELs) in K-12 classrooms. This endorsement enhances instructional practices, expands career opportunities, and prepares educators to address the needs of multilingual learners.

The ESOL program is open to undergraduate students seeking initial teaching licensure across various teacher preparation disciplines.

Why Earn an ESOL Endorsement?

An ESOL endorsement equips educators with linguistic, cultural, and instructional knowledge essential for teaching English learners. With this credential, candidates will be prepared to:

Eligibility & Requirements 

For Teacher Education Students (ESOL Endorsement Candidates): 

✔ Must be enrolled in a teacher education undergraduate program at KSU. 
✔ Must hold an active pre-service certificate
✔ Must complete all three courses, including the Fall field experience (20 hours across all grade bands)

The ESOL Endorsement Certificate is available fully online for Teachers holding clear renewable Georgia Certification in any field (Elementary, Middle Grades, Secondary Content, P-12). The endorsement is available as an option within several M.Ed. programs or may be taken alone to add to your current certificate.
