Scholarships for Education Majors

There are many scholarships available for education majors. Please see the KSU scholarship website for more details located at http://scholarships.kennesaw.edu.

To apply for scholarships, please do the following:

  1. Login to Owl Express with your NET ID and password.
  2. Click on the Financial Aid tab.
  3. Click on KSU Scholarship Application
  4. Follow the prompts

  • The purpose of the Arleen Taffel Memorial Scholarship is to provide scholarships to students with financial need pursuing their degree in teaching, Early Childhood Education preferred in the Bagwell College of Education with a minimum GPA of 3.0 Strictly need based.

  • The August C.Krueger Memorial Endowed Scholarship will offer financial support to students pursuing a degree in STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Education. Deserving students pursuing degrees in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, chemistry, computer science, mathematics and statistics and physics will also be considered. Merit Based.

  • The Bagwell College of Education Alumni Club Scholarship provides support to one or more full-time student teaching candidates to aid in the successful completion of the student teaching experience. Applicants must provide recommendations from a collaborating teacher and university supervisor from previous field experience. Financial need preferred.
  • The Cary L. and William H. Turner English Scholarship supports female sophomores, juniors, or seniors with superior scholastic records who are full-time English or English education majors. Strictly merit based.
  • The Chantal and Tommy Bagwell Scholarship will be awarded to full time students with a minimum 3.0 GPA who are entering freshmen, sophomores and entering graduate students with a declared major in the Bagwell College of Education, Coles College of Business, WellStar College of Health and Human Services, or College of Science and Mathematics. The scholarship will be renewable if the student continues to meet the criteria; freshmen four years, sophomores three years, graduates two years. Candidates for the scholarship will be interview by the selection committee. Financial need based.
  • The Delores Peterson-Wise Annual Scholarship will provide assistance to undergraduate or graduate students who are attending full or part time pursuing a degree in Math Education with a minimum GPA of 3.0. It is preferred that the student be from a socioeconomic disadvantaged or underrepresented county in Georgia and /or an active member of an African American organization at KSU. If a math education student can not be identified and Bagwell Education major may be considered.
  • The Dr. Ann D. Smith Endowed Scholarship in Education provides support to full or part-time undergraduate students pursuing a degree in teacher education or graduate students studying educational leadership. Strictly Financial Need Based.
  • It is the Donor’s preference that students with the following qualifications as determined by
    the Scholarship Selection Committee receive the scholarship:

    • Enrolled full or part-time in the Bagwell College of Education
    • Pursuing a BS in Education
    • Membership in organizations such as the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority or
      Black Teachers Matter student organization, whose missions seek to advance
      the needs of populations historically underrepresented in education
      preparatory programs.
    • Minimum 2.8 GPA
    • Merit-based
    • Undergraduate
    • Scholarship is renewable to the same student through graduation.
  • The Dr. Mary Ursits Art Education Scholarship will provide support to full time students who are accepted into the Art Education Program in the College of the Arts, and beginning his or her senior year of the year-long cohort practicum experience. Minimum GPA of 3.0. Merit Based.

  • The Dr. Mary Ursits Student Assistance Scholarship will provide assistance to a single parent undergraduate student or a child of a single parent actively pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education(P-5) or a B-K Traditional program. The student must be full-time, accepted into the Teacher Education Program in the Bagwell College of Education with a minimum GPA of 2.75. Merit Based.
  • The Dr. Mary Ursits Student Assistance Scholarship will provide assistance to a non traditional undergraduate student actively pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education(P-5) or a B-K Traditional program. The student must be full-time, accepted into the Teacher Education Program in the Bagwell College of Education with a minimum GPA of 2.75. Merit Based.
  • The Durden Family/Betty L. Siegel Scholarship recognizes excellence in students accepted into a graduate degree program in education. Students demonstrating merit and potential are given priority. Student must be an udergraduate from KSU to qualify. Strictly merit based.
  • The G.F. Wan Memorial Scholarship provides support to a deserving undergraduate international student preferably majoring in education. Chinese students are given preference. Strictly merit based.
  • The Gas South Endowed Scholarship was established to support students in the College of Science and Mathematics, pursuing a degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Education. Undergraduate or graduate student enrolled full or part time in the College of Science and Mathematics. Good academic standing, minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference giving to Veterans of the U.S. military. Merit based.

  • The American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education’s (AACTE) Holmes Scholars Program supports historically underrepresented doctoral students by providing them with the academic and professional guidance needed to be successful in the field of education.   • The Hurbert W. Tino Endowed Scholarship in Education will provide scholarships for sophomore, junior, senior or graduate students in the Bagwell College of Education. Students pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education, Middle Grade Education, Science and Mathematics Education and Educational Leadership will be considered.
  • The Jackie Dobbins Cobb Memorial Scholarship provides support to outstanding full-time sophomores or juniors who graduated from a Paulding County High School who are pursuing a degree in elementary education. Financial Need Based.
  • The Jackie Lower Memorial Annual Scholarship will provide support to students pursuing teaching degrees in science or mathematics. Undergraduates must be full or part time and have a minimum GPA of 2.8. Merit Based.
  • The Nina C. and John S. Frey Jr. Memorial Scholarship recognizes excellence in full or part time undergraduate students with a minimum 2.5 GPA returning to college to pursue a degree in education who are currently a Parapro in Cobb County schools. Financial need based.
  • The Selwyn Walker Foundation, Inc. Scholarship provides support to full-time nursing students and education majors in good academic standing with a preference given to students who live in Fayette County. Strictly Financial Need Based.
  • The Toby Hopper Endowed Scholarship for Single Mothers offers financial assistance to single, non-traditional female students, who provide major financial support to their custodial children, and are pursuing a degree in teacher education. Strictly Financial Need Based.
  • The Velma Taylor Wells Memorial Endowed Scholarship provides support to outstanding full or part time majoring is history education, enrolled in or just completed TOSS (SSED 4413 and 4414), have a minimun 3.5 GPA and be a Georgia resident. One student will be selected and awarded in for fall semester and one for spring by the selection committee. Merit based.

The Noyce Scholarship provides up to $30,000 for well-qualified applicants to complete the MAT degree and earn teacher certification. Submit your application here.
