Teaching Grants
Federal TEACH Grant
- Eligible students must be admitted to the Bagwell College of Education.
- Students must have Junior or Senior status or be enrolled in a graduate degree program in education.
- Students must have a 3.25 cumulative grade-point average.
- Students should be preparing for teacher certification in a critical-need field.
- Students should expect to commit to teaching in a low-income school for a minimum of 4 years within the first 8 years of graduating.
- Failure to complete the full teaching requirement reverts the TEACH Grant to an Unsubsidized Stafford Loan.
- The maximum annual award is $4,000. The annual amount is subject to change based on federal sequestration
TEACH Grant Requirements
Within KSU’s Bagwell College of Education, you must have earned a minimum of 60 credit hours OR be enrolled in an approved master’s, specialist or doctoral program in one of the following majors to be eligible to receive a TEACH grant:
- Biology - Secondary (B.S.Ed., M.A.T., M.Ed., Ed.S. or Ed.D.)
- Chemistry - Secondary (B.S.Ed., M.A.T., M.Ed., Ed.S. or Ed.D.)
- Early Childhood Education (M.Ed.)
- Elementary Education (B.S.)
- English - Secondary (B.S., M.A.T., M.Ed., Ed.S. or Ed.D.)
- Foreign Language Education (B.A.)
- History - Secondary (B.S., M.Ed., Ed.S. or Ed.D.)
- Language Arts - Middle Grades (B.S., M.Ed., Ed.S. or Ed.D.)
- Master of Arts (all programs)
- Mathematics - Middle Grades (B.S., M.Ed., Ed.S. or Ed.D.)
- Mathematics - Secondary (B.S.Ed., M.A.T., M.Ed., Ed.S. or Ed.D.)
- Physics - Secondary (B.S.Ed. or M.A.T.)
- Reading (M.Ed. in Reading)
- Science - Middle Grades (B.S., M.Ed., Ed.S. or Ed.D.)
- Social Studies - Middle Grades (B.S., M.Ed., Ed.S. or Ed.D.)
- Special Education (individual general curriculum) (M.A.T., M.Ed., or Ed.S)
- Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) (M.A.T. or M.Ed.)
